Why Vitni

Not another AI assistant. A different job.

ChatGPT is built to produce answers. Vitni is built to help you hear your own thought. If you already use a general assistant and don't want to put your private thinking into it, this page is the comparison.

The difference

General AI helps you do things. Vitni helps you notice things.

A general assistant is a machine for finishing tasks. Ask it anything and it answers, plans, drafts, and follows up. That's what it's for, and it's genuinely good at it.

But feed it a feeling and it treats the feeling like a task. Validation first, then advice, then a list. Most AI tries to keep the conversation going. Vitni is built so the conversation can end, because the point is what you keep, not how long you stayed.

ChatGPT gives you an answer. Vitni gives the thought back to you, slightly less blurry.

Side by side

The same half-thought. Two machines.

An example. You type one unfinished sentence into each.

You type

I feel like nothing I do at work is good enough.

A general AI assistant

  • Validation, first.
  • Then advice you didn't ask for.
  • Then a plan with ten steps.
  • Then three follow-up questions.

All reasonable. None of it yours.

Vitni

Is the problem the work itself, or the standard you're using to judge it?

One question. Then it waits.

The entry you keep, if you keep it

The standard, not the work

It's not the work that's failing. It's the bar I keep moving every time I clear it. I want to catch myself moving it.

You bring the half-sentence. Reflect brings one question.

How it asks

Reflect asks. It doesn't perform.

No fake empathy. No chatbot persona. No motivational speech. Reflect doesn't say 'I hear you' or 'that sounds hard,' because performed care is still a performance.

What it does instead: mirrors the thought, notices a contradiction, asks for specificity, separates what happened from what you made it mean. At most one question at a time, and often none. When the thought has found its shape, it stops.

The full interaction design is at how Reflect responds.

What you keep

The journal keeps what mattered.

A conversation with a general assistant ends as scrollback. A conversation in Vitni can end as a journal entry: the AI drafts it from the chat, you edit it before anything is saved, and it lands in an encrypted record you can read, export, or delete. The entry is the product. The chat is how it gets written.

The lock

Encryption makes it usable honestly.

You can't think honestly in a place you don't trust. Everything you keep in Vitni is encrypted on your device before it leaves it, and the server stores boxes only you can open. The chat is the one honest exception: the message you send crosses to the AI provider to be answered, with no name, email, or IP attached. It is not trained on, and it is deleted under their standard retention window of up to 30 days.

Vitni isn't alone in caring about private AI chat anymore, and this page won't pretend otherwise. What Vitni is: a private chat attached to an encrypted journal, built for one job.

The details are at privacy.
